The intensifying limelight on Generative Artificial Intelligence (Gen AI), which started with the launch of ChatGPT towards the end of 2022, is not due to a recent breakthrough overnight. When it comes to Generative AI models, size matters; there is a linear relationship between the performance of these large general-purpose brains and their sizes. Companies like OpenAI then fine-turn their general-purpose models, package specific capacities into user-friendly products like ChatGPT and DALL-E 2, and then ship to the general public.
Users can build their applications on top of these large models for tasks specific to their needs, such as analysing customer sentiments, generating charts or writing code in a particular coding style.
The application of Generative AI can be either incremental, such as assisting creative work or improving personal recommendations, or disruptive, for example, replacing contractor newsletter copywriters.
