In Amy Cuddyโ€™s book with the same title, the author defines [@cuddyPresenceBringingYour2015] Presence as โ€œthe state of being attuned to and able to comfortably express our true thoughts, feelings, values and potential.โ€ It emphasises authenticity and confidence, which are paramount in commanding attention, filling a stage, or influencing conversations.

Cuddy also mentioned a concept from Carl Jung: individuation. Defined as a state that gives an individual a stable and unique identity, confidence, self-awareness, and conviction, Individuation requires one to be present. Here, being present is not the same as not being distracted or in the state that is often cited in guided meditation.
