The amount of a leader’s charisma and their management effectiveness is not a linear, more-is-better relationship. Researchers observed that too much charisma can lead to overconfidence, narcissism and manipulative behaviours, which don’t bode well with two of the four essential emotional intelligence requirements of good leadership - self-awareness and self-regulation.
